A theater at Delphi. This was one of the most important religious sanctuaries of the ancient Greek world, dedicated to Apollo, situated on the lowersouthern slopes of Mount Parnassus above the Gulf of Corinth. Thought of as the navel of the earth, it was theseat of the Delphic Oracle, whose riddling responses to a wide range of questions were delivered by the Pythia.

The Parthenon on the Athens Acropolis. The Parthenon was the temple of Athena Parthenos, built on the Acropolis in 447–432 bc by Pericles to honor Athens' patron goddess and to commemorate the recent Greek victory over the Persians. It was designed by Ictinus and Callicrates with sculptures by Phidias.
