Pawnee Buttes. Colorado
Pawnee Buttes Trail is a 4.1 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Keota, Colorado that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. Pawnee Buttes are located in the Pawnee National Grasslands a span of 193,060 acres of short grass prairie in the South Platte River Basin. The Pawnee Buttes are among the grasslands' most prominent topographic features, rising nearly 300' from the high plains floor. A short trail leads down a major escarpment into a sea of open space, and to the base of each butte.
